Whenever anyone chooses to have unprotected sex with anyone, or even when one chooses to use a condom there is still a risk each time regardless of whether their STI status is known.

I understand the shedding part can’t be avoided however isn’t there a risk with anyone at any time? If a person knows they are having an outbreak then precautions or abstinence can be taken.

Herpes is very easy to catch at the time of an outbreak or when silent shedding is happening. Wouldn’t it actually be safer dating someone who openly knows they have herpes to take precautions to prevent others from catching it, rather than potentially dating and having sex with someone who has herpes and does not know and puts you at risk every time you have sex? However it has made me wonder, If it’s that easy to catch and a lot of the population has it without knowing then there is a risk to everyone every time they have sex (obviously).
